Name
editSolanum paniculatum L. (1762:267)
- Lectotype: "Iurepeba" in Piso, De Indiae utrisque re naturali et medica libri p. 181, left figure in woodcut (1658)
- Typotype: Sheet 16 of MarcGrave's bound herbarium (C, Knapp & Jarvis, 1995:fig. 16)
- Designated by Knapp & Jarvis (1990:365). "Typotype" refers to the specimen a lectotype illustration was based on. The term stopped being used after the introduction of "epitype" in the Tokyo Code of 1993. Although Nee (2013) cites it as epitype and Chiarini (2007:243)—incorrectly—as lectotype, no such designation seems to have actually taken place.
