- Type locality: Northern part of the Weddell Sea, Antarctica (60° S, 49° W).
- Holotype: Fig. 7.
- Isotype (fixed and embedded sample of the clonal culture): Dr. Jacob Larsen; 1988-12; Surface water. Station 156 (61ºS, 49ºW) is located close to the edge of permanent pack ice and over a water column of 2190 m. Botanical Museum, Copenhagen 1569.
