- Type locality: Terra Nova Bay, Ross Sea, Antarctica (74º41'S, 164º07'E).
- Holotype: Fig. 12 (epitype) 1998-12-11; Surface waters of a hole (2 m in diameter and 1.5 m in depth) in the sea ice. Salinity and temperature were 24.7 psu and -1.5ºC, respectively.
