• Type locality: Signy Island, South Orkney Islands, Antarctica.
• Holotype: Paul A. Broady; mineral soils and moss cushions; USNM; Resin-embedded cells. Living material: strain SAG 7.90 in SAG (Göttingen). Epitype: authentic strain (cryopreserved) SAG 7.90.
