• Type locality: Austria: Ötztal, Ortler 3898 m.
• Epitype (designated by Darienko & Pröschold 2017): strain ULVO-55, permanently cryopreserved in a metabolically inactive state (cryopreserved in liquid nitrogen) in the SAG, University of Göttingen, Germany.
