Synonyms edit

Notes edit

The synonym Petersia was replaced because of duplication with Petersia Klotzsch in W.C.H.Peters, Naturw. Reise Mossambique 6(1): 168 (1861), which is now considered synonymous with Capparis Tourn. ex L.. Another synonym Combretodendron was first published with Combretodendron viridiflorum[under an epithet viridiflora, which does not conform to the current ICN (ed. 2017, Art. 62.2 (c)); now synonym of Petersianthus macrocarpus] by Chevalier at page 151, but he also published another name Petersia viridiflora based on the same specimen (Chevalier 16102) at page 301; Liben judged that the taxon Combretodendron is invalid because of the ICBN (ed. 1966, Art. 34 at that time: "A name is not validly published (1) when it is not accepted by the author in the original publication"). Compare also the current ICN (ed. 2017, Art. 36.3).
