Type locality: [Angola. Huíla:] Am linken Chitanda-Ufer, unweit der Mündung, auf lehmigem Boden, 1150 m ü. M. [= On the left bank of Chitanda River, not so far from the mouth, on loamy soil, alt. 1150 m above sea level].

This name was once reduced to P. schumanniana F.Hoffm. ex K.Schum. by Bremekamp (1934), but was reinstated by Bridson (2001).
