Typus: E. Milne-Redhead 3312 (in flower, [19 November 1937]; Holotypus: K {K000411999^{(GBIF, JSTOR)} [herbarium specimen], 8556.000^(GBIF) [spirit collection]}).
Type locality: Northern Rhodesia [= ZAMBIA]. Mwinilunga District, West of Dobeka Bridge, on sand, [11° 44' S, 24° 24' E].
