Typus: P.J. Greenway 7582 (4 February 1946; holotypus: K [K000286905]; isotypi: EA [EA000001676], PRE [PRE0594752-0^(JSTOR)]).
Type locality: Tanganyika Territory[Tanzania]. S. Mbulu District: Nangwa, E. slope of Mt. Hanang, alt. 2200 m., scattered in the undergrowth of Calodendron[Calodendrum] capense, Celtis kraussiana [= C. africana], Elaeodendron, Ekebergia, Maba abyssinica [≡ Diospyros abyssinica], Teclea simplicifolia, Albizzia maranguensis [= Albizia petersiana subsp. petersiana] evergreen forest, on a dark greyish-brown loam of volcanic origin in a mountain gorge.
