Pavetta genipifolia Schumach., Beskr. Guin. Pl.: 78 (1827); as 'P. Genipæfolia'

Type: not designated; Bremekamp (1934: 136) claimed that Hiern had selected Barter s.n. (collected in Sierra Leone in 1857; K 000411879^(JSTOR)) as lectotype, but such an argument lacks evidence of actual designation by Hiern and is Pavetta leonensis Keay (vide Keay 1957: 100–101); apart from them, there exists 'holotype' collected by P.E. Isert in Aquapim[Akuapem], Ghana in 1786 (C10004301).

  - Type locality: Togo. In einer Waldschlucht bei Misahöhe.
