Typus: A. Borhidi, S.T. Iversen, M. Hedrén, W.R. Mziray, T. Pócs & Sebsebe Demissew 84849 ([14 March 1984]; holotypus: K [K000287381]; isotypus: JPU? [ex VBI, not seen by Bridson]; cf. UPS [V-035036]).
Type locality: Tanzania. Lushoto District: West Usambara Mts., Shagayu Forest Reserve, 2–5 km ENE from Shagayu sawmill, [4° 31′ 12″ S, 38° 16′ 48″ E, on NW slope, montane evergreen forest, at 1850–1950 m alt.].
