- Sarcocephalus diderrichii [De Wild. & T.Durand in Masui, État Indép. Congo Expos. Brux.: 439 (1897), nom. nud.] De Wild., Rev. Cult. Colon. 9: 7 (1901)
- Heterotypic
- Sarcocephalus trillesii Pierre in De Wild., Rev. Cult. Colon. 9: 8 (1901) et Notices Pl. Utiles Interessantes Fl. Congo 1: 37 (1903); ex A.Chev., Vég. Utiles Afrique Trop. Franç. 9: 229 (1917) et Rev. Bot. Appl. Agric. Trop. 18: 185 (1938), descr. ampl.
- Typus: Trilles s.n. (November 1899; not seen by Ridsdale & Bakhuizen van den Brink 1975: 548).
- Note: Pierre forwarded a wood specimen of his Sarcocephalus trillesii to Bruxelles accompanied by scant notes as to the character of the tree. De Wildeman (1901) only provisionally accepted Pierre's species, however, using the information supplied by Pierre, gave differential characters, viz. the varying size of the inflorescence heads, to distinguish S. trillesii from S. diderrichii and S. gilletii De Wild. [≡ Nauclea gilletii (De Wild.) Merr.], thus affecting valid publication (Ridsdale & Bakhuizen van den Brink 1975: 548).
- Type locality: Gabon.
