Name

edit

Xylosma G.Forst., Fl. Ins. Austr. 72. (1786) nom. et typ. cons.

  • Type species: Xylosma orbiculata G.Forst., Fl. Ins. Austr. 72. (1786)

Note: Gender is feminine (vide D. H. Nicolson, Taxon 43(1): 107. 1994). Since the generic name is of Greek origin with "-ma" ending, however, some authorities erroneously assign a "neuter" gender, but the suffix "-osme" refers to the smell and is feminine in Greek.
