Typus: collector not indicated in the protologue, but the following specimens are known: G. Don s.n. (BM000902921^(JSTOR)); A. Afzelius s.n. (BM000902919^(JSTOR), BM000902920^(JSTOR) [collected in 1792–1794]).
Type locality: Sierra Leone. By the sides of rivulets, among other bushes.
