Notice: When initially proposed, the genus Leptomitus included types of two (sic!) previously validly published oomycete genera, namely Achlya Nees (in Carus, Nova Acta Phys.-Med. Acad. Caes. Leop.-Carol. Nat. Cur. 11: 514. 1823, A. prolifera Nees) and Saprolegnia Nees (in Carus, Nova Acta Phys.-Med. Acad. Caes. Leop.-Carol. Nat. Cur. 11: 513. 1823, S. molluscorum Nees, nom. illeg. (Conferva ferax Gruithuisen ≡ S. ferax (Gruithuisen) Kütz.)
