Typus: G.A. Schweinfurth 3626 ([15 April 1870]; holotypus: K [cf. K000411784, without any type indication]; isotypus: BM-BM000528539) fide Bridson & Verdcourt (1988 [Reprint 2019]: 689).
Type locality: North Central[The Democratic Republic of the Congo]. [Former Orientale Province:] Monbuttu-land[Land of the Mangbutu], near Bongua.
