• Type locality: Kodagu district, Karnataka, India.
• Holotype: AARI/FWRA/UEP/CRG05.
• Eponymy: In honour of Dr. Murugesan Baluswami (Algologist and Former Head Department of Botany, Madras Christian College, Chennai), for his contribution to the field of algal taxonomy and algal biodiversity.
