- Type species: Kayea floribunda Wall., Pl. Asiat. Rar. (Wallich). 3: 5 (1831) possible synonym of Mesua floribunda (Wall.) Kosterm., if so then the protologue is meaningless.
Note: Maybe congeneric with Mesua L. (1753), but Kayea borneensis and Kayea scalarinervosa have no equivalents, the above are combinations under Kayea s.l.. See talk page and Ruhfel et al. (2016).
