- Holotype: MNRJ 61647, adult ♂, skin, skull, partially skeleton and viscera, collected by Cibele Rodrigues Bonvicino, Joao Alves de Oliveira, Luiz Flamarion B. de Oliveira and Valéria Penna-Firme on 10 July 1997.
- Type locality: “Brejo da Lapa (22°21′S, 44°44′W, altitude approx. 2000 m), situated to the east of Pedra Furada (2589 m) in the Serra da Mantiqueira, municipality of Itamonte, state of Minas Gerais, Brazil”.
