Typus: S. Espinoza 297 (1–15 September 1990; Holotypus: QCNE [QCNE44756]; Isotypus: MO-1545874 (04978914)^{(CRIA, GBIF)}; cf. CR [see Tropicos record]).
Type locality: Ecuador. Pastaza: Cantón Pastaza, pozo petrolero Corrientes de UNOCAL, 35 km SE de Curaray, 1°43′S, 76°49′W, 320 m.
