Help talk:General Wikispecies
Discussions pending:
POV:
It has been suggested that the Name section should be the first section on a page.
It would make some sense, IMHO.
Kempm:
For most organisms the term type-locality can be used.
For Bacteria and Archaea, I'd like to use type-strain. A chemical formulae that is widely used and that can be found in publications.
For lichenous organisms, I'd like to use the term Host-substratum/Locality, as I'm using on many Fungi pages.
Some Fungi can be determined on the host they are feeding on. And Ascomycetes taxonomy relies heavily on this.
Will there be more exceptions?
Kempm:
If the name section describes a taxon above species level for example Genus-level, add the term type species.
This is the specimen on which the genus is based on.
For Familia, use type genus etc.
Kempm:
I have been contributing a bit different, and added the synonyms section as a lvl 2 (main) section.
Also I added information like homotypic synonyms, basionym, competing synonym, and non-competing synonym.
POV:
It has been suggested to rename this section to Interwiki.
KempmPOV:
The name Interwiki makes more sense to me, since it describes better what it is.
Vernacular names is not just a list of names, but a list of links to the right (existant) pages?

Who is Gen. Wikispecies?
editShouldn't this page be called, say, "General Wikispecies information" or "General infomation about Wikispecies" or just "General information"? - dcljr (talk) 01:47, 22 May 2023 (UTC)
