- Type locality: "Hab. ad occidentales Novae Hollandiae oras." [New Holland: Australia]. Lectotype: LD herb. alg. Agardh 33993 (Kraft & Womersley 1994: 462). Notes: Kraft & Saunders (2017: 241): "Type: Ad litus mari inundatum penins. Levevre, Dec. 16 1847, F. Mueller s.n. (lecto, here designated: MEL0044483; isolecto: MEL5163780–82)." However, Kraft & Womersley's lectotype cannot be superseded.
