Introduced, warm-season, perennial, strongly scented (molasses-like), hairy and sticky grass, with stolons and loose straggling stems to 1.2 m tall. A native of Africa, it is mostly found, and becoming
more abundant, north of Port Macquarie. Distribution is limited by frosts as repeated frosts will kill plants. Planted as a pioneer pasture species on newly cleared land. Grows vigorously along roadsides and
