Ericameria palmeri var. palmeri— Palmer's goldenbush. Included in the CNPS Inventory of Rare and Endangered Plants on list 1B.1 (rare, threatened, or endangered in CA and elsewhere). The tag gives the location as Otay Mountain, that refugium for rare species in San Diego County. Luckily, the plant is not quite as rare in Baja California, but even there it is threatened by development. The CNPS Inventory says there are 16 small populations north of the border. Photographed at Regional Parks Botanic Garden located in Tilden Regional Park near Berkeley, CA.
