A subadult turtle found using a new technique for me-- looking for holes in the sand where softshells were periscoping out to take a breath as they slept in the sand overnight. On a hot day which was mostly sunny, this turtle was resting in the sand on a southwest facing bank near vegetation. Upon capture it struck vigorously and reburied itself after release.
