Typus: W. Kalbreyer [1292] (in flower, 25 December 1879; Holotypus: K [cf. K000173547^(JSTOR), 'unknown type material']; Isotypus: F [V0069150F (591500)^{(GBIF, JSTOR)}, fragm.]).
Type locality: Colombia. Prov. Antioquía: Cucurutha, alt. 2,100 m.

Notes

Jiménez (2002) had cited E. Forero[, R. Jaramillo M. & J. McElroy] 1558 (collected on Río Munguidó, tributary with Río Atrato, around Altagracia, Chocó, alt. 40 m, 5 May 1975; deposited in COL [COL000149894 (185921)]) as this species, but he re-determined it with F. quinqueflora Poepp. & Endl. in September 2015.
