- Typus: L.C. Leach & I.C. Cannell 14582 (in flower and fruit, 6 October 1970; Holotypus: LISC [LISC011535(GBIF, JSTOR)]; Isotypus: SRGH [SRGH0106539-0(JSTOR)]).
- Type locality: Angola. Benguela Distr.: ± 14 km E of Sousa Lara [today's Bocoio], on ridges of partially decomposed granite, in association with Aloe andongensis Bak. and Huernia volkartii Werderm. & Peitsch..
