- Type (tetrasporic): Ivan M. Johnston (Nos 84 and 88b); June and July; growing on rocks. Herb. Calif. Acad. Sci. 1350. (According to Norris (1985: 63) type specimen: I.M. Johnston no.86, CAS#1349, now UC).
