Type: R. Gutzwiller 36 (in flower, December 1927; Holotypes: US [US00132412 (1344292)^{(CRIA, GBIF, JSTOR)}]; Isotypes: G [G00223699 (218243/1)^{(GBIF, JSTOR)}], NY [NY00579549^{(CRIA, GBIF, JSTOR)}]).
Type locality: Venezuela. State of Mérida: on the Páramo de Muchuchies.
- Note: Diazgranados (2012) argues that actual locality is Táchira.
