- Note: while Cuatrecasas cited furthermore collections made by other collectors, both Diazgranados (2012) and Mavárez (2021) regard only the above-mentioned collection(s) as (lecto)type; as for Ecuadoran Espeletia, Mavárez recognizes only E. pycnophylla Cuatrec. and its subspecies.
