Typus: A. Jahn 154 (in flower, October 1910; Holotypus: US [US00132125 (602483)^{(GBIF, JSTOR, speciesLink)}]).
Type locality: Venezuela. State of Trujillo: Páramo del Jabón, at an altitude of 3,000 to 3,200 meters.
