Taxonomic affinities

Under alpha taxonomy comparison methods, it is similar to Encyclia bragancae and Encyclia ionosma, but differs by much larger lip, with deeply frimbriate margin and cornate clinandrium margin.

Distribution

Native distribution areas:
Southern America Brazil Brazil Northeast. Encyclia fimbriata is so far known from type specimen, in southern state of Bahia, in Atlantic Forest biome, in montane rainy forest, ca. 850-900 m of altitude. References: Brummitt, R.K. 2001.
