- Type locality: Mangakiri stream, Paupueru, New Zealand North Island.
- Holotype: Sarma; 14 May 1975; gravel pool in the Mangakiri stream bed; Sarma.
- Eponymy: in honour of Mrs Marie Taylor, New Zealand botanist who collected the type material.
