Diagnosis: Thallus viridis vel ochraceus, esorediatus, crassus; cortex hyphis anticlinalis; medulla cretacea; ascomat immersa, punctiformia vel rare lirelliformia, fusca; ascosporae triseptatae, fusiformes; acida lichenum desunt.
Type: U.S.A. Florida, Monroe Co., Key West, on hard limestone, February 1898, R. Thaxter 415 (NY, holotype), with Verrucaria sp.; TLC: nil. Thaxter 406. TLC: not tested (NY, paratype).
Etymology: Named after the ecology of the species: growing on limestone.
