  • Type locality: Rhine near Basel, Switzerland.
  • Lectotype (designated by Darienko & Pröschold 2017): Fig. 3 4b in Binz and Vischer (1956).
  • Epitype (designated by Darienko & Pröschold 2017): Authentic strain CCAP 415/1, permanently cryopreserved in metabolically inactive state (cryopreserved in liquid nitrogen) in CCAP, SAMS, Scotland.
