Life habit: Lichenicolous fungus (parasite on living lichens)

Hosts: On thalli of Usnea species, inducing the formation of typical rounded galls.

Locality: Canada (British Columbia).

Typification Details: Holotype C, Alstrup 22111

Note: Cystobasidium usneicola can easily be confused with Biatoropsis usnearum, as they grow on the same host genus, and induce the formation of similar galls. (Diedrich, 2004)
