Type species: Cymopterus glomeratus (Nutt.) Raf. in A.P. de Candolle, Prodr. 4: 204. (1830)

Note: The circumscription of this genus is not yet settled c.f. Hassler (2020) versus Govaerts et al., (2020) and for example Pseudocymopterus and Aulospermum have been segregated here, but Govaerts et al. prefer a much wider circumscription of this genus.
