  • Type locality: New Zealand. South Island:
    • Townson: Nelson, Buller Gorge.
    • Cheeseman (January 1883): Nelson, Clarence Valley [altitude 3500 feet].
    • Cheeseman: Canterbury, Arthur's Pass [altitude 3000 feet, January 1880] and Mount Cook District.
      • January 1898, 'type' sensu Oliver (1935: 45): Hermitage, Mount Cook, altitude 2500 feet.
    • Petrie: Otago, near Dunedin.
