Coprosma ernodeoides A.Gray, Proc. Amer. Acad. Arts 4: 49 (1860)

Type: Menzies et al. as the U.S. South Pacific Exloring Expedition under the command of Capt. Wilkes s.n. (P-P00698866^(mirror), US-US00129903-42338; 'syntype': GH-GH00251367 (ex US), mirror; possible types: NY(-NY00131120, -NY00131121)).
Type locality: [United States of America.] Sandwich[Hawaiian] Islands: Hawaii.

Heterotypic
- Coprosma solandri Kirk, Trans. & Proc. New Zealand Inst. 29: 522 (1897); not accepted by Govaerts (1999, 2003) [cited as Unplaced Name] and de Lange & al. (2019) [cited as Coprosma ernodeoides]
  - Type: 'Collected by Banks & Solander 1769–1770' (holotype: WELT SP063854), but this seems to have derived from Menzies's collection in 1793 (de Lange et al. 2019).
  - Type locality: 'East Cape district'.
- Coprosma ernodeoides var. mauiensis H.St.John in W.R.B.Oliver, Bull. Bernice P. Bishop Mus. 132: 32 (1935); not accepted by Govaerts (2003) [cited as Coprosma ernodeoides]
  - Type: H. St. John 10333 (13 February 1930; holotype: BISH-BISH1015003; isotypes: BISH(-BISH1010999, -BISH1015004), K-K000772179, P-P00698865, US-US00129904-2064406, WELT).
  - Type locality: [United States of America.] Hawaii, Maui: above Olinda, grassy slopes, on ledges, altitude 5500 feet.
