Typus: UNKNOWN COLLECTOR (holotypus: ?P fide Allan 1961: 584), see Thompson (2010: 38); possible types: PH(-PH00006587, -PH00024808).
Type locality: Nouvelle-Zélande[New Zealand]. [South Island:] Akaroa ad sylvarum margines.

- Coprosma coffaeoides Colenso, Trans. & Proc. New Zealand Inst. 21: 87 (1888 publ. 1889); as C. coffæoides; not accepted by Govaerts (1999, 2003) [cited as Coprosma robusta]
  - Typus: W. Colenso s.n. (1888; WELT(SP023311, SP023313, SP023314, SP023315, SP056396; the emphasized specimens are mentioned by St George 2009: 26)).
  - Type locality: [New Zealand. North Island:] County of Waipawa, south of Dannevirke, edges of woods and margins of streamlets.
    - Note: AK also stores three 'syntypes' (AK8726, AK8727, AK8728), but their locality is Hawke's Bay, i.e. northeast of Dannevirke.
