• Type: L.K.A. von Chamisso s.n. (1817; holotype: LE, not located fide Sohmer 1977: 150; lectotype: W-Endlicher 0065914); E. Christophersen & E. Hume 1426 (17 December 1931; epitype: BISH-BISH1010994).
  • Note: the epitype was first designated as neotype by Sohmer (1977: 150, fig. 52) due to absence of any original materials. Later, duplicate in W turned out to be an original material and was lectotypified by Berger (2018) and then the neotype was made epitype for maintaining nomenclatural stability and supporting the fragmentary lectotype.
• Type locality: United States of America. Hawaii: Oahu.
  • Chamisso: In nemorosis montium[Southern Waianae Range, < 730 m alt., or, Southern Koolau Range, < 730 m alt. fide Berger (2018)].
