Note:: AlgaeBase uses the original spelling elisabethae: "O.C. Schmidt does not indicate the etymology of the epithet in Hedwigia. If the epithet honors a person named Elisabetha (a possible germanic given name), it is correctly formed. However, if it honours his mother, whose name according to Fritz Mattick (Willdenowia 1(4):654. 1956) was Elisabeth, the correct form is elisabethiae".
