Chroodiscus homchantarae Papong & Lücking, 2009   (sp. nov. MB511144)


Type locality: THAILAND. Surat Thani Province: Khao Sok National Park, 8o55'N, 98o31'E,70 m, tropical rain forest, 14 Feb 2006, Papong 4744 (KKU, holotype). Paratypes: Same locality and date, Papong 4938 (RAMK), 5289 (F). Nakhon Sri Thammarat Province: Khao Lung National Park, 8o43'N, 99o41'E, 170 m, tropical rain forest, 15 Feb 2006, Papong 3684 (KKU).

Ecology and distribution: On living leaves of vascular plants in lowland to submontane rain forest; known from India (Andaman Islands), Sri Lanka, Thailand and continental Malaysia.

Etymology: Named after the first lichenologist in Thailand, the late Prof. Natsurang Homchantara (1957-2006), who studied Thelotremataceae in Thailand and elsewhere in Southeast Asia.
