  • Type locality: Unterengadin, Switzerland. (Umgebung des Hotels Il Fuorn an der Ofenpaß-Straße, 1800-1950 m, schattiger, humoser Nordhang).
  • Type: authentic strain (SAG 812-1), cryopreserved in a metabolically inactive state (epitype) W. Vischer; Terrestrial, soil; Cultur Collection of Algae and Protozoa, Oban , Scotland.
