Type locality: CANADA. British Columbia: Central Interior, North Arm of Quesnel Lake, near mouth of Roaring River, 52o41.266'N, 120o54.066'W, on soft wood of leaning snag, 716 m, 29 Sep 2007, Spribille 24283 & C. Pettitt (holotype CANL, isotype, BG).
Etymology: A reference to the often golden color in the herbarium and the leprose habit of the species.
Ecology and distribution: In North America Biatora aureolepra is found on bark and wood of Thuja plicata and Thuja heterophylla in old-growth inland rain forests.
