Name

Begonia × erythrophylla Hérincq, Rev. Hort., III, 1: 166. 1847.
- Formula hybridae: Begonia hydrocotylifolia Otto ex Hook. × Begonia manicata Brongn.

This is the progenitor of a group of artificial hybrids commonly named Begonia 'Erythrophylla' cultivars or Beefsteak Begonias. It is not reported in the wild in Mexico and so is assumed to be purely artificial in origin.
