Type locality: CANADA. British Columbia: Sicamous Creek Research area: 10 km ESE of Sicamous, 50°50'N, 118°50'W, old-growth forest (ESSF/UB zone), N-facing old-growth (Picea/Abies) forest, partially cut, 1700 m, 22 Aug 1995, Goward 95-1095 & D. Miege (holotype UBC-L32407; isotype UPS)
Ecology and distribution: B. contecta has been found on the stalks of Vaccinium spp. (Vaccinium membranaceum, Vaccinium ovalifolium) and Rhododendron albiflorum in montane Thuja plicata-Tsuga heterophylla and Abies lasiocarpa-Picea engelmannii forests in the greater inland rain forest region of British Columbia, Idaho, and Montana.
