- Typus: Y.S. Abeid 264 (1 July 1998, in flower; holotypus: K; isotypi: BR, M, MO-2292748(JSTOR), NHT, UPS).
- Note: there are two specimens labelled as 'holotype': K000771307(JSTOR) and K000771310(JSTOR).
- Type locality: Tanzania. Pwani Region: Bagamoyo Distr., Zaraninge Forest, Gongo Village, near WWF office, 06°11′S, 38°36′E, 260 m.
