- Type locality: "Sur Ceramium rubrum, à très basse mer. Automne. — RRR. — Querqueville (M. Thuret)."
- Notes: Dixon & Irvine (1977: 88) could not locate the holotype, and lectotypified with the illustration given by Bornet & Thuret (1876), Pl. V [figs 1-11] (see Dixon 1977). France (Belle-Ile-en-Mer)." However, the lectotypification is to be questioned, as a different host is involved (Helmithocladia vs Ceramium).
