  • Type: Iran, Mazandaran, 60-65 km S Sari, Dodangeh, Sangdeh, Ashek forest, Vang-Zanoon, 1570 m. Zare & Amini 10390. (Holotype TARI).

Taxonomic notes

The species is potentially formed from hybridization and hence might not be distinct from Acer hyrcanum. Investigations continue but until there is further confirmation Acer mazandaranicum is assessed as a distinct species.
